Joe started his career 20+ years ago, as a Healthcare Professional. Before BRAND, he most recently held the position of “Vice President of Facilities Management and Engineering” for a licensed 1,170 bed Hospital facility. During his career, Joe also held positions as Director of Engineering and General Manager of Facilities with Marriott Healthcare Services, Sodexo Healthcare Services, and Professional Services. Throughout his healthcare experience, Joe successfully led his organizations through numerous Joint Commission® and CMS surveys.
Joe holds a Bachelors and MBA degree in Business Administration with a minor in Healthcare Administration, he is a trained Life Safety code surveyor. Joe maintains continual education through ASHE conferences and seminars, NFPA courses and several other educational webinars. Additionally, Joe holds a FASHE status of Fellow Healthcare Engineer (FASHE) with ASHE.
As Director of Healthcare Services, Joe is responsible for the oversight of BRAND SERVICES Regulatory Compliance division in conducting Life Safety assessments, Statement of Conditions, providing technical consulting and education in all areas of The Joint Commission’s Environment of Care®, DPH, CMS and DNV programs within the Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management.
In additional to his technical achievements, Joe was a recipient of the Marriott Healthcare “Best Sale” award in the Northeast, a recipient of the Professional Services 2006 “President Award,” as well as a receiver of the Healthcare Industry’s “Program Quality Engineering Award” an award for “Engineering Excellence.”
Joe presently holds membership in the Healthcare Facilities Management Society of New Jersey (HFMSNJ), ASHE, National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and several ASHE chapters. Joe continues to provide educational seminars on EOC & Life Safety code compliance and Joint Commission and DNV topics to ASHE members and their local chapters in NY, NJ, PA Florida, and New England.
In 2010, he was nominated to run for office for ASHE Region 1 Regional Director.
In 2013 Joe was elected to be part of the Life Safety ASHE committee “Just Ask ASHE” as a subject matter expert on life safety codes.
In 2016, Joe is a committee member for the ASHE E-learning Facilities Management 101 certification program and he was made a Technical Committee of the NFPA Building Fire and Life Safety Directors.
Joe has had national articles published on Fire Door compliance with NFPA 80 AND NFPA 105 and Life Safety 101 with Inside ASHE July 2015 and DHI-Door Hardware Institutes May 2016.
Lastly, Joe is a certified fire door educator with Door Security & Safety Foundation with the 2017 Education Advocate Program.
